2011-2012 NLHS Scholarship Nominees

  Daughters of the American Revolution Recipient         Angel Washington is North Lenoir High School’s 2011-2012 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award winner.  The DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree.  Angel is also eligible for the scholarship contest at the local level.  She will be recognized at a luncheon sponsored by the local DAR chapter in December.

            2011-2012 Parks Scholarship Nominees            Chris Thaxton and Sean Kramer - North Carolina State University. The Parks Scholarship is named after the late Roy H. Park, a 1931 Alumnus of NC State. The Parks program provides an awesome opportunity for exceptionally talented and well-prepared young men and women to develop leadership skills and commitment to public service. The four-year scholarship is valued at $75,000 in- state and $130,000 out-of-state, a computer stipend and yearly enrichment activities. Students are evaluated on scholarship, leadership, service and character.  

            2011-2012 Morehead-Cain Nominees                     North Lenoir High School is proud to announce the Morehead-Cain nominees. They are left to right - Chris Thaxton, Anna Burke, and Sean Kramer. The scholarship is based leadership, scholarship, character, and physical vigor. The Scholarship aims to reward gifted and committed young leaders who strive for academic excellence and inspire it in the endeavors of others. The Scholarship provides for 4 years of education at UNC-Chapel Hill along with summer hands-on experiences.

      The Kinston Rotary Club sponsors the Student of the Month Program to honor outstanding high school seniors.  A North Lenoir student is selected each month to represent the school at the Kinston Rotary Club meetings.
