Lenoir County Early College High

Mission Statement: We will prepare students to be college-ready, independent, and skilled citizens through a rigorous, safe, diverse, and student-centered approach to education.

In August 2007, Lenoir County Early College College High School opened its doors for the first time on the beautiful campus of Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. We began with 50 ninth grade students, 4 teachers, 1 principal and 3 support staff members. Presently we educate 165 students across 4 grade levels, 9-12. We have 7 amazing teachers, 1 principal and 4 support staff members.

We are a 5 year high school. This allows our students ample time to work towards a high school diploma and a transferable Associates Degree. Our students will complete the NC Diploma requirements through traditional high school courses and transferable college courses. Students at Lenoir Early College receive academic and personal support from a variety of teachers, a college liaison and a counselor.

While small in number, our staff has committed themselves to an amazing mission. Through support, collaboration, and powerful teaching, our faculty will prepare students for their future.

Our students have an opportunity to not only earn a high school diploma, but to also earn an transferable Associates Degree. Students attending Lenoir County Early College High School get to experience real college courses while still in high school. Our students have dedicated themselves to a rigorous academic experience. The learning environment is diverse. We accept students from all over the county from public and private schools.

Lenoir Early College helps students break down personal and academic barriers to increase learning and growth. We support one another through challenges and successes. The environment at Lenoir County Early College is unlike any other. We are a family. We experience change, loss, success, fear, confusion, anger, frustration and many other things ALL TOGETHER.
