WELCOME TO COUGAR COUNTRY

GOT STEM?  We do!

In January 2012, Lenoir County is placing the first North Carolina Pitsco middle school Math I (Algebra) STEM Lab Center at CSS.  The Math I (Algebra) Lab Center will be a full year curriculum for students that includes a State end-of-course test.  The STEM Lab will offer students hands-on STEM courses with rich, connected learning experiences in mathematics.  The curriculum is a combination of individual, whole class, and cooperative learning instruction.  The Pitsco STEM lab effectively combines key learning components such as factual knowledge, procedural proficiency, and conceptual understanding with nontraditional, project-based activities.  Students will have meaningful opportunities to recognize and apply core math concepts beyond the walls of the classroom. Making math meaningful and relevant is what this STEM Lab is about!

Stay tuned for opportunities to visit the lab once it is installed!  We would love to have you come and see what all the excitement is about!

Many thanks to STEMEAST, North Carolina's Eastern Region for making grant money available to bring this opportunity to life.  www.visitnceast.org
